Todays Quick Fit Tip

Tip # 1.) Burn fat anywhere. You don’t have to crank away on the Elliptical Trainer or go for a run to burn calories.   Any movement or combination of movements that elevates your heart rate increases the utilization of calories and therefore burns fat.   Traditional aerobic exercise (same sustained movement) such as using a treadmill or going for a jog has now been debunked as the only way to burn fat.   I often joke that you can remove all the expensive and fancy treadmills from a gym and then mark their original spots with a red X.    Individuals could simply go over to the X and run in place, do jumping jacks or just dance like a crazy person.   It would end up creating the same workout.   So if you are locked into a hotel room on a business trip and they do not have an exercise room simply move that body at a sustained pace for 20 minutes.  Here is a good example of pairing body weight movements to create the same effect.

Body Weight Fat Burning Cardio (no equipment necessary)*

60 Jumping Jacks

Fitness can happen anywhere

Followed by:

5 to 15 Pushups

Followed by:

30 Ice Skater Side Hops

Followed by:
Alternating Glute Bridges
Followed by:
60 seconds Running in place
Followed by:
Body Planks (30 second hold)

Followed by:
60 Jumping Jacks

  • TAKE a 60 second break.
  • REPEAT CIRCUIT 2 to 3 times.

Tip # 2.)  Whey protein for fat loss: Many of you may be familiar with the high quality protein that powdered Whey offers, but you may not realize its ability to knock out appetite and food cravings.   The sustainability, low glycemic index and quality of the protein gives the body optimal nutrients at a very low calorie density.    It is this protein and nutrient density that tackles appetite and food cravings.   So how does it help fat loss?   You can use 1 scoop of whey between breakfast and lunch and one between lunch and dinner.   You will find that you will eat less food at these major meals.  You can also use a scoop of whey whenever you feel hungry but you want to stay within your fat burning calorie range.   There is no way around it, if you want to lose body fat, you have to reduce calories!  The more foods you find that give you optimal nutrients with lower calories the easier it is to stay on track.   The brand I recommend most is Jarrow 100% Natural Whey Protein.  You can Google search it to find the best price, or stop by Whole Foods for a bit of a mark up.  Jarrow Whey has no artificial sweeteners, preservatives and does not carry any hormones or pesticides.
