One of the most common questions that people ask me when I tell them I am a personal trainer usually has to do with what to eat. It seems to me that people expect that I am going to have some sort of magical advice on nutrition that is going to get them fantastic results. Well to be honest, I could give someone that advice but… the problem lay in the truth that most people just don’t have the time to listen to said advice. They are hoping to hear a short sweet answer that will be easy to follow and remember.
But if the answer were that short and sweet, then there would not be people who have Masters Degrees and PhD’s in nutrition now would there? To make it even more confusing, people with those degrees continue on with their education even after graduation. Now THAT’s a whole heck of a lot of schooling geared towards one specific subject! When you think of that amount of information that is available in on that specific subject it starts to make sense why it is that a short and sweet answer just isn’t available.
In the past when clients have asked me if I could write up a meal plan for them I would normally respond that I don’t do that because I’d like for them to learn for themselves what is healthy and what is not. After all, I can’t be there at every meal leaning in over your shoulder to tell you what you should and should not eat.
