There are three kinds of people in this world: Those who never weigh themselves, those who occasionally hop on a scale, and those who obsess about their weight daily. I get asked all the time, “How often should I weigh myself?” My answer is simple: Don’t bother!
I guess I fit in the middle category. I’ll weigh myself every now and then, because I’ve lost a decent amount of weight since I began training. Compared to where I used to be, I love seeing those lower numbers on the scale. But I tell my clients it’s more about inches and for me…..that is what is important and so that is what I teach. It’s more about how they look and feel, the way they fit into their clothes, than about how much you weigh.
Women especially seem to be concerned with weight, but one of my associates looks like she weighs in around 125 but actually weighs in closer to 155. She’s mostly muscle, and remember: Muscle weighs more than fat and takes up less room! I tell you what though….she fits into a size 5-6! Does that make sense?
Studies show that people who weigh themselves on regular basis are thinner. This is probably because they are uber-aware of themselves. But if you ask me, “How often should I weigh myself?” Well, I only weigh my clients about once a month. It’s part of the monthly fitness evaluation and it tells us how we’re doing. How often should you weigh yourself? Come see me and we’ll talk about it!
