“A deep friendship is like a rainbow. When the perfect amounts of happiness and tears are mixed, the result is a colorful bridge between two hearts.” ~ Unknown

Let’s be honest: no relationship is perfect.

We often have these fairytale-induced ideas of what friendships and relationships are supposed to be like—perfect, flawless, problem-less, etc.

But the fact of the matter is that since we are human and we make mistakes, there is no such thing as a ‘problem-free’ friendship or relationship.

This can sound very discouraging, but it can also be very liberating.

To know that there is no expectation of perfection in a relationship and/or friendship frees us to be a whole lot more natural in our being and actually brings people closer than before.

When we place an emphasis in the relationship on an expectation of perfection, we get discouraged with what we see as the other person’s lacks and we can often be driven to the point where we want to end the relationship or friendship because we don’t think it is working.

However, what we fail to actually see is that by putting the other person inside that box of expectations, we miss a whole lot of the things that they bring into the relationship that we were attracted to in the first place.

Because we are so focused on what we expect out of them we become blinded to the true person in front of us.

When we accept that nobody is perfect and we accept people for what they are, we will very soon find that there are so many more wonderful things to that person that we never noticed because we were looking only for what we wanted to see in them.

Being human means we are imperfect with results in mistakes.

However, if we can see beyond the mistakes into the positives of that person and the wonderful things that they bring into our lives, then we will discover the wonderful rainbow bridge of friendship uniting two hearts!
