La Mesa Fit Body Boot Camp invites the community an all day holistic living fair, with proceeds going to local alternative health care.

On June 2nd, the La Mesa Fit Body Boot Camp, known for its focus on whole-body health and fitness, is hosting an all day Holistic Living Expo. The expo is an opportunity for members of the community to learn about holistic living options, including health and fitness, spirituality, and sustainability, provided by local businesses, and local people concerned about healthy living.

JJ Brawley, the owner of La Mesa Fit Body Boot Camp, is excited about both the information the expo will share and the funds it will provide for La Mesa Integrative Health, a clinical outreach program of the non-profit Alternative Healing Network.  This affordable wellness center ensures that alternative health care can be affordable for everyone while also providing needed resources and funding for its free community outreach clinics in under-served communities.

“La Mesa Integrative Health is a wonderful asset to our community,” says Brawley, “and the La Mesa Holistic Life Expo is a great way to raise money for the organization.”

Admission to the expo is $10 at the door and $8 pre-sale, with all proceeds going to LMIH. Special VIP Admission includes access to on-site massage or acupuncture sessions as well as seminars, interactive workshops and admission to the Dance Jam from 8pm to midnight Sunday night concluding the event.

The Expo opens at 2pm on Sunday, June 2 and features free speakers throughout the day, including Naturopathic Doctor Shannon Fowl, chiropractor Dr. Gabriel Dawson, acupuncturist Brent Keime, Tai Chi/Qigong teacher Roger Thierrault, Jon Block of the Here and Now Network, Michael Huffman, author of Living Chi-Fully and Nick Frade presenting his 24 Day Weight Loss Challenge.
The expo celebrates the grand openings of both the
new La Mesa Integrative Health location and the new La Mesa Fit Body Boot Camp location, but Brawley says that he has other goals for expo as well.

“This event is dedicated to building connections,” he explains, “between members of our community and our area’s holistic living providers, including entrepreneurs in areas such as integrative health, nutrition, fitness, spirituality, and sustainability. These providers can become great resources for the people who attend the expo.”

Brawley also says that the topics covered in the expo are right in line with La Mesa Fit Body Boot Camp’s approach to fitness and weight loss for their clients. “True fitness and lasting weight loss are an essential part of good health and good, natural approaches to health are also essential to fitness and weight loss,” he says.

North Park Fitness Boot Camp Invites Community to Help Raise Funds for Local Elementary School

Local fitness boot camp owner is going back to his elementary school to help raise funds for much needed gym equipment.

IB-Logo-Medium.gifJJ Brawley, owner of two local fitness boot camp locations, including North Park Fit Body Camp, is hoping that the community will come out in force to help him raise funds for Albert Einstein Academy Charter School. The school is badly in need of equipment for their new fitness program and Brawley is anxious to help.

“Albert Einstein, formerly known as Brooklyn Elementary is my old elementary school and it was a great place to spend my childhood,” says Brawley. “Now I have a great life helping others to get fit and stay healthy and I love the idea of helping my old school teach their kids the same thing.”

The fundraising effort is part of Brawley’s “Calories for Charity” program, which is one of the means that he uses to bring his fitness boot camp and the community together to raise funds for local organizations.

“We try to help local charities and other groups raise funds in ways that incorporate health and fitness,” says Brawley.

That will definitely be the focus of this fundraising event, which will be held on the Lower playground at Albert Einstein Academy Charter School on April 30, 2013 from 4:30pm to 7:30pm. The school is located at 3035 Ash Street, San Diego, CA, 92102.

“It’s going to be an awesome event,” Brawley explains. “We’ll be putting up a mini obstacle course that’s going to be a lot of fun for the whole family. Also, the personal trainers from North Park Fit Body Boot Camp will be on hand to put on a three-hour marathon circuit training workout that will be great for all ages and all fitness levels.”

Brawley stresses that people can participate as little or as much as they’d like and as much as they’re able. The suggested donation for the event is $20 and includes the circuit training workout. The workouts will begin at 4:30, 5:30 and 6:30pm.

“It’s so important for kids to learn that fitness is not only essential, but a whole lot of fun”, says Brawley. “So many kids today are overweight and get very little exercise. For the first time in our history, children as young as nine years-old are being diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes. Albert Einstein Academy is starting an awesome new fitness program for their kids, but they really need some new equipment to do that.”

Brawley is excited not only about the event at Albert Einstein, but the possibility of being able to do the same thing for other area schools and youth programs.

“We’d love to do this same type of fundraiser for any of the other local schools or kids’ groups,” he says. “It’s a worthy cause, a lot of fun for us and a great time for the local community.”

Brawley hopes he’ll see much of that community on the obstacle course April 30th.

211091_467725299942131_92392762_nLa Mesa fitness boot camp hopes to help people live a healthier lifestyle and raise funds for victims of sexual violence at the same time.

La Mesa Fit Body Boot Camp is well-known in the community for its fundraising events and community outreach. On Saturday, February 16, owner JJ Brawley is excited to be hosting the Holistic Life Expo in conjunction with Dane Dormio, owner of the newly opened La Mesa tai chi school Chai Tea Tai Chi to help raise funds for Jeans for Justice.

“Jeans for Justice is a nonprofit organization that educates and mobilizes young people and communities to end sexual violence,” says Brawley. “The Holistic Life Expo will help to raise funds for the organization and also give people in the community a great day of speakers, performances, free gifts and vendor booths promoting healthy and holistic lifestyle options.”Brawley says that supporting Jeans for Justice is a no-brainer for a company so focused on women and women’s health."

“Some statistics say that one out of four women will be a victim of sexual violence in their lifetimes”, says Brawley. “A lot of our clients are women of all ages and all backgrounds. We care for them while they’re here and we also care about what happens to them when they’re not. Supporting a group like Jeans for Justice is just a natural extension of what we do and why we do it.”

While admission to The Holistic Life Expo is free to the public, VIP tickets are being sold for donations of $5 each to help raise funds for the non-profit. VIP admission entitles guests to not only the presentations given by speakers and performances by area artists but also a free raffle ticket and admission to the High Vibe Dance Jam & Drum Circle following the event from 9 PM to midnight.  There will also be a silent auction to add to the fundraising efforts.

Everyone who attends will be able to attend presentations being held by six local community leaders, including Jon Block of The Here & Now Network for Holistic Entrepreneurs, Tanya Paluso of the women’s empowerment organization Tribal Truth, and Dane Dormio, event coordinator and owner of Chai Tea Tai Chi.

The Holistic Life Expo will run from 4pm to 9pm, with doors opening at 3:30pm. The event is being held at La Mesa Fit Body Boot Camp at 8322 Parkway Blvd, La Mesa, CA 91942.

“It’s going to be a great event for anyone interested in health and wellness,” says Brawley. “We hope to see a great turnout and to be able to give Jeans for Justice some much-needed funds.”
